Cruising in the Fiji Islands with Captain Rick Delfosse ~ Wednesday, April 19, 7pm

We are thrilled to invite you to an exclusive presentation by Captain Rick Delfosse, where he will share his remarkable experience of cruising the beautiful Fiji Islands on Independence.

For the last few years, Rick has been realizing his dream of circumnavigating the world – often with his partner Candy Wood, and we are fortunate that he is now in town for a short time and will give a presentation on his exciting time in Fiji Islands. He has some beautiful photos to show and interesting stories to tell.

Captain Rick Delfosse is a renowned captain to many of our members. His 40 years in the marine industry included being Project Manager at Direcktor Shipyards and most recently Business Manager at Norwalk Cove Marina. He is a Coast Guard captain, National Safe Boating Council close-quarters boat-handling and open water boat handling instructor, CT and NY certified safe boating instructor, and a US Sailing-certified instructor. He conducts on-the-water courses on coastal and offshore cruising and boating skills.

His expertise is unparalleled when it comes to exploring faraway destinations. In his presentation, he will share his firsthand knowledge of the hidden gems of the Fiji Islands, including breathtaking sceneries, fun adventures, navigation tips, and unique culture.

Independence is a 43-foot Pan Oceanic Pilothouse Cutter designed by Ted Brewer. Although she appears to be a heavy boat, she is very responsive in light air and with her medium displacement hull, sizeable keel and low center of gravity she also copes well with strong winds and rough seas. She is spacious and comfortable, with lots of deck space, an ergonomic cockpit, a large saloon and pilothouse with inside steering, complete navigation station and sofa/bed.
